Things You Should Know Before Study Abroad in France

France is a country rich in experiences. The cuisine, fashion, and art have tempted a lot of foreigners to stay there and explore the colorful French culture. Higher education in France is well-organized and centralized. However, doubts easily creep in when we talk about foreign education. Free College: Most French educational institutions are funded by the government. Students in France have access to cheap but high-quality schooling. Tuition fees in France range from €200 to €400, depending on the level of education. This is almost seven times the fee one would normally pay in India. However, you might find a lack of funds in certain areas as everything is bound by the budget that the French government makes.

Interaction with Teachers: Student-teacher interactions are radically different. French teachers usually take their classes and grade exams. The do not put special efforts to cater to a student’s needs. Discussions with teachers can only be done in the oral exams or in ‘appointments’.

Examinations: Students should saddle up for two stages of examinations which are deemed difficult. The first stage is oral in nature. Students are required to give presentations in front of the whole class. The second stage consists of a written test. The grading system requires you to score at least 10 out of 20 marks to pass the year. This may scare you but only a small percentage of students score over 70% in the exams.

Classes: Enrolling yourself in a course does not entitle you to handpick classes. In a week, you might have to attend 24 hours of classes. Assess your choices before you choose a course.
